A key focus of the Maryland Nurses Association is environmental health. The MNA has a long standing commitment to providing quality care in a quality environment. A major focus for the Association is to inform and educate the nursing community about related environmental hazards and provide them with the tools to effect change in their work sites and communities. To this end articles are published quarterly in The Maryland Nurse on environmental health and the Association offers continuing education in this area.
About MNA's Environmental Agenda
In August of 2003, MNA became the first state nurses association to become an H2E Champion for Change, a Hospital for a Healthy Environment initiative and is an active participant in Health Care without Harm, and the HCWH Nurses Workgroup. At the 2004 ANA House of Delegates Meeting, MNA submitted an Action Report on the Eliminating the Inappropriate Use of Antibiotics in Agriculture, which was passed by the house.
