Legislation, Policy, Regulation
A major focus of the Maryland Nurses Association is developed around laws and regulations that affect nurses and the advocacy role that nurses have for patients. The MNA Legislative Committee works to develop the Association's legislative platform and then oversees support of bills that are congruent with the focus of the platform. This very active committee, made up of members of the Association and a representative from each of MNAs Affiliate Organizations, works to follow issues that come before the Maryland General Assembly and other regulatory bodies.
In addition to actively addressing legislation, policy and regulation, MNA also has a Political Action Committee that can endorse candidates for political office in the state. In this section you will find information on the Legislative Platform, the MNA Legislator of the Year for 2006, the MNA Political Action Committee and other programs and events related to these efforts.
